Higher and higher

So I was heading home from my dad’s in Tennessee, trying to avoid the under construction Interstate 40 bridge over the French Broad. I decided to take US25E through Newport and over the mountains, to pick up 40 over in North Carolina, not realizing the Wolf Creek Bridge was being rebuilt and road was closed. Upon discovering that, I thought I’d zip over some state and county roads up past Del Rio. How hard could it be? Not too bad, unless your paved road turns into dirt and you go climbing higher and higher on switchbacks and hairpin curves. ‘Course, if I’d just taken Fugate Road out of Del Rio instead of 107, I’d’ve already been on the right side of the river when I got to Wolf Creek. But where would the fun have been in that? And it sure is pretty up there.
